IN SEARCH OF FATHER HOWELL/BEDWARD et al

IRIE FM radio in continuation of its 'In search of..." series, has gone in search of some of the unsung Afrikan heroes in Jamaica. These include Chief Tacky, Phoeba, Leonard Howell and now they are currently exploring the history of the mystic Alexander Bedward of August Town. Sis Andrea Williams Green through her Running Afrikan program aired Sunday mornings 6-9am and streamed live on iriefm.net spearheaded the very informative series, opening the eyes of many to the real history of our people.
The series is quite interactive and includes direct community interventions to improve school, churches, and historic sites. As the Bedward seach gets in high gear lecturer historian Louis Moyston will deliver the lecture on Bedward while students are encouraged to write an essay on the hero.
This Saturday June 16 the earthday of Father LEONARD HOWELL the grandfather of the Rastafari movement in Jamaica, there will be a commemorative concert in Trinityville... [Read More]

Site Development / Official Launch Date

Greetings,

Welcome to African Culture Online. This site is currently under development and is not open yet but if you found us by search engine or have been recommended by an African Culture Online member, please feel free to join. We expect to officially launch this site on Feb. 13th 2005

African Culture Online is currently in testing, accounts are free and there are no restrictions on any part of the service. However we won't yet make any commitment to service levels or reliability. Development is still taking place and scripts need to be updated, although we try and make sure tests are carried out before updated code is made available, it's not always possible to see errors until they are reported by scripts and users.
